Who comes/can come to Camp Collide?
Youth and adults. Youth groups are welcome, and so are adult groups, but we really find neat experiences when it's a mixture of both. Young people have a passion and energy to share with older folks. Older folks have widsom and experience to share with young people. When they collide... oh the possibilities!
What do we do at Camp Collide?
We serve. Quite simply, that's it! We serve each other by spending a week in Christian community together. We serve people who are in situations and places that look a lot like hell. We serve God by loving others, following in the footsteps of Jesus, and bringing hope to the hopeless. For a lot of the people and families we serve, this hope takes on the shape of a wheel chair ramp or a coat of paint on the walls - or maybe just clipping the hedges and talking with them over a glass of lemonade. More than anything, it's busy people (like you) taking a week of your life to tell others in need that they're just that important to you... that God loves them and values them more than they will ever know. And because of that, so do we.
What does an average day look like?
Each morning, we wake, eat, and have a bit of guided quiet time. Then we go pour out our love. All day. In the evening, we shower (sometimes), eat (very important), exercise the muscles we didn't use during the day, and praise together our awesome God.
What is our group responsible for?
Getting to camp! We don't have a fleet of professional drivers (in fact, our staff has been driving for less time than you), nor do we have a fleet of vehicles. So... your group will need to provide their own transportation.
We also expect your group to pray. To pray for our summer staff, the other groups who will be a part of Camp Collide, and for the people we will serve this summer. We can have all the campers, materials, and money in the world but, without prayer, our ministry could not happen.
Lastly, your group leader will need to take-on the responsibility of making sure every camper has all that they need (we'll give that to the leader - they just have to get it to the campers) and that they commit to getting our office what we need. Aside from those three things, pack your bags and get ready!
How many adults do I have to bring with my group?
For every five youth, you must have an adult as a part of your group. (For this purpose, adults are considered 23 years old and older and can/will be driving one of your vehicles.)
I have more questions. What now?
Well, you have two options. First, we recommend downloading and reading through the registration packet that covers many of the topics above plus everything else we've ever been asked about (well... just about). If you still have questions, call us! (864) 653-3482.
