Tigers Go took our first relief trip in November 2006 to New Orleans (specifically St. Bernard Parish), LA, with over 100 students and adults to help those devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Since then, we have led nearly a dozen trips to the same place as we continue to partner with the people of St. Bernard Parish and the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans to rebuild homes and love people who have been through a very dark time in their lives. Our relief trips actually continued a ministry begun by a campus ministry here at Clemson (Clemson Wesley) who started taking trips to the region in October 2005, just two months after Katrina.
Several of our founders were very involved in planning and leading five trips through Clemson Wesley and, so that these trips could continue, founded Tigers Go in August of 2006.
Today, Tigers Go continues to offer relief trips to the New Orleans area as we continue to help rebuild homes and help people in need. While these trips are made-up mostly of college students, we continue the tradition begun by Clemson Wesley of inviting adults, students from other campuses, and generally anyone and everyone to join us on our trips. To date, we have had people from California, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Massachussets, and Florida join us on our trips (who aren't students at Clemson!).
We hope you'll join our history of relief trips and become part of the next mission team!
